Thoughts.Why Consistent?

Mon Sep 23, 2013, 4:06 PM
Consistency? My artwork is never really.. consistent. My style can change from week to week! Its mostly by mood but it doesn't mean when I make dark art it means I am in a bad mood lol. I don't always have a plan when I start. I just go where my mind takes me and see where it ends up.

  • Mood: Joy
  • Listening to: DJ Tiesto
  • Watching: Whoochi the demon slayer LOL
  • Drinking: cherry coke

The ones that stay around longer are always the ones that are willing to change, and by changing, you're growing as a person AND an artist. I look forward to checking in on your journey my talented friend!!

I agree with you. I am always changing from feelings or an idea that comes around. It's very hard to stay with one side, just becomes impossible for new projects. I tend to base mine on a song title or or a dream. :) (Smile)

It happens even outside,  I remember some one who is not an artist wrote to me asking me if I am ok or if I have some mental problems!!!!!  Can you believe it? it was because I published some soft-dark manipulations that I made in Facebook.   It was awful.  But,  I answer him that he is the person with mental illness as he is watching things that there is no evidence in my manipulations.  I could not write he wrote to me but he was so rude regarding one or two dark manipulations I published.  In conclusion,  I am totally agree that one work never reflects our personality and/or mood.  It is a hobby and we are just creating, sometime based in the people's likes.

I agree I get it mostly from the outside as well. So many people see my work and assume I'm depressed or upset. I get the"are you ok?" a lot so I refrained from posting any of my work on my personal page. I just love what I do and my work doesn't always reflect my life.

lol true, but when I make work thats one say soft and bright and then the next dark and gloomy, they assume I'm happy one day, and then pissed off another lol

Lol, well i don't see that as not being consistent but more like a diverse and versatile side of you that your showcasing. When you stick to 1 thing, it gets boring after a while so i can appreciate when one does something differently every now and then!

I also am quite confused with the way some artist'sthink in assuming that when someone creatives something that, that is the way they lead their lives or it portrays their moods. Sometimes, that may be the case but most of the time idea it is an idea or a fantasy. It doesn't necessary, indicate your mood.

Exactly! My work does not reflect my life. I usually try to tell a story with my work but its not my story. Its just an Idea that surfaces.

I seem to have been too hasty, typing  my previous comment but  I actually meant to ask you if, you get annoyed when they assume that you created that piece of art because you were in that particular mood at the time? Because it really annoys me to no end and then I have to add  a text in the comments, that what they assume it is, is in fact, not! Surely, we have better things to do, then create something that we are feeling, at that point, about something or someone. and I even have people thinking that because I have some issues here, it is about that or them. Good golly, I have better things to think about and yes, like yourself, I like to create a story with my work and hope that, that is the story they will get.

Oh yes it does! usually I get "now I understand why you made this piece of art" which in fact, has nothing to do with what I'm feeling or going through at the moment. So I don't post anything on my personal facebook page anymore. I rarely show friends and family. Too many people creating stories of my life lol

Hahaha, I am getting to that stage too. But don't take notice of them, just say, "Yeah, you know that's exactly that, you are so brilliant, I live my life according to my art" And very quickly, they get the message. That people have a creative imagination too, it's NOT about how one lives, their lives. You carry on with your beautiful art dear and don't ever give up because of others.
